The active involvement of patients and the public in health research has increased in recent years, but less so in modelling studies. A recent paper, published in The Patient, details the establishment of a public involvement group to explore mathematical and economic methods in order to identify potential points of public contribution in modelling. From this a framework was developed to help guide public involvement in future modelling studies, and to enhance the quality, validity and relevance of models.
